essay — "How to Author Your First Policy" #22

Description

The field guide for conversion.

Manifesto reader nods, closes tab, nothing changes. Need a "start here" — 500-word walkthrough of taking one frustration and turning it into an authored policy this week. Not a product sell; a craft primer.

Structure:

  1. Pick the frustration that costs you the most sleep.
  2. Phrase it as a rule: "When X happens, Y should happen."
  3. Identify which of the six primitives the rule touches.
  4. Write the policy in plain English (two sentences max).
  5. Define the trigger event.
  6. Write the escalation — what happens if its missed.
  7. Review after a week.

Converts manifesto readers into operations architects. Doubles as marketing funnel for Runbook without being salesy.
