subexpression renames don't propagate correctly

Renaming things without disturbing expr structure is a hassle currently

• property preservation is name-based not position-based, so a rename in expr will lose settings
• renaming in a child submenu doesn't propagate out to parent names and exprs properly, you have to go in and hand-edit
