No location showing on LibreNMS Sync page

Steps to Reproduce

Go to Librenms Sync page.

Expected Behavior

The Device Information card should show the location details from Librenms.

Blank location field

I was looking at that one - and if I understand right - we are syncing 'Location' field from Librenms to 'Site' field in Netbox. But on Librenms sync page - shows as 'Location' on Netbox side.
But empty location would be only for device that was added manually, right? as on import - it's blocked without location.
I think best would be to change naming on Librenms Sync to show it's Netbox Site field not Location.

Thanks @marcinpsk, so that field in the device information card on the device Librenms sync page, should show the Librenms values.

It previously showed the Librenms location regardless of if added manually or imported, the data is pulled on page load. This must have broken in recent changes. Not looked at it yet but will be something simple no doubt. I just logged the issue so I don't forget!

I appreciate other people might use Librenms locations differently, but I have always used location to represent a site in Librenms. There might be a case for creating location mapping in the plugin in the future.

Initially, it just needs to dispaly the Librenms location value again. Yeh the naming for that row could be Site or Site/Location

@bonzo81 ah, I see. I never had a device without Location already populated so never noticed.
That's quite a nice feature for later to get maybe some split from librenms location to populate both Site and Location - but yes, would require some mapping to define what separator to use etc.

@bonzo81 I have one "but" - when I check device - I see populated Location on LibreNMS side. Maybe that device snmp location field was cleared?

Also seeing this issue on my end.
I had existing sites synced under Site and Location Sync in the plugin, but searching for anything new returns nothing now.

Regarding the mapping, I know this will very likely be different from user to user, but this is how I've configured SNMP location on my switches: site, location, rack

That also follow the related objects model used in Netbox where you have the Site at the top, location is under the site, and racks are under the location.

@bonzo81 it stopped working for me as well.

Looks like regression on LibreNMS side, as it stopped working right after I've updated LibreNMS.

Commit 49a34b5a0b — PR #19434 "Cleanup device_by_name" (merged ~April 13, 2026) simplified device_by_id_cache() in includes/common.php:

it should be fixed in LibreNMS at some point (there's PR open for this - librenms/librenms#19622 )

btw. this causes issues on import as well - search returns location - but modal fetches individual device if you check details - and updates location to '-' - easiest would be to use previous LibreNMS for now (from March).

I applied the PR to test and now location is seen during sync.
However I would like to take the time to discuss Site mapping.

Let's use this as an example:

I do have Vetlanda as a site in Netbox, ideally it should get mapped there.

Is there any plan for how this should be handled? Should there be a "Location Mapping" like we do for interfaces?

That is good idea, @bonzo81 already mentioned it ealier (one of comments above).
With an option to be able to split - for example using , as separator - open question how to split it.
But that should give an option to assign that to:

• Site
• Location
• Region
• Rack
• Tenant
• Description? (I do have full address in snmp location quite often).

Would have to think how to structure mapping - as it may be good to have a flexibility for both configuring split (which field on Netbox side) - as well as mapping in case Netbox side has slightly different naming.
