What
New ground-observatory fleet category alongside the existing space-only observatory. Curated 12–14 Earth-based radio telescopes + Deep Space Network tracking sites.

Why
/fleet currently surfaces only space-based observatories (Hubble, JWST, Chandra, Compton, Euclid, Gaia, Hitomi, Kepler, Spektr-RG, Spitzer, TESS, XMM-Newton). Earth-based radio telescopes are critical companions — FAST, Arecibo (collapsed but historically dominant), Green Bank, VLA, ALMA, Parkes, Effelsberg, Jodrell Bank, MeerKAT, SKA — plus the DSN trio that talks to every interplanetary probe orrery already renders.
Curated set
- Single-dish radio (4–6): Arecibo (retired), FAST, Green Bank Telescope, Effelsberg 100m, Parkes 64m, Lovell at Jodrell Bank
- Arrays + interferometers (3–4): VLA, ALMA, MeerKAT, VLBA
- Future (1): SKA (under construction)
- DSN trio (3): Goldstone, Madrid, Canberra
Slice plan
- Slice 0 —
ground-observatory category in schema + filter chip + i18n key + new optional fields (instrument_type, wavelength_band, site_location). Can merge with PRD-025 Slice 0 if in flight.
- Slice 1 — single-dish + arrays + SKA entries (10–11 entries)
- Slice 2 — DSN trio + cross-link "tracked via DSN" line on interplanetary-probe fleet entries
Acceptance
- All 12–14 entries merged
- ≥ 1 entry per continent (NA, SA, EU, Asia, Africa, Australia)
- ≥ 1 entry per major operator (NRAO, MPIfR, CSIRO, NAOC, SARAO, JPL DSN, SKA Organisation)
