Use case or problem

Hello! First and foremost, phenomenal work on this plugin, it's truly a game-changer for Bases.

I would like to know if there's a way to insert a line break on titles? For example, in these cases, I want the text after the colon to be in the line bellow.

I'm aware that I could setup a subtitle property, but there are cases in which I just want to break a long title in a specific part. For example, here I would like for the second line of the title to start after the "and".

Proposed solution

I'm not sure if this a viable solution, but in Dataview, it's possible to achieve this by defining an invisible character (⠀) as a separator, and adding that character in the title property.

I don't see how this could be implemented in a way that would be obvious. If I added support for the invisible character as a separator, I'm afraid very few users other than you would know about this...

Though it would not solve your problem, one could adjust subtitle appearance to match title.

Turns out Obsidian property renderer natively displays multi-line fields via a YAML block scalar (|- or |), no hacks needed:

Indeed. It's quite a flexible solution, but not ideal to put in practice as a general feature.

I believe I came across this when first looking for a solution for my dataview libraries, and it does work, if I pull the title as text instead of a link. In bases, however, it seems it makes no difference.

I have found a solution that seems to work pretty well for now. I had a look at the developer tools, and it seems class card-title scroll-gradient-right forces the title to be a single-line. I wrote the following CSS snippet to override it:

.card-title {
    white-space: pre-line !important;
    overflow: visible !important;
}

.card-title-text {
    white-space: pre-line !important;
}

.card-title.scroll-gradient-right {
    white-space: pre-line !important;
    overflow: visible !important;
}

Then, if the title property is defined as a list, the formula title.join("\n") must be added to act as the display title. Alternatively, the invisible character also works, just need to include a split function in the middle of the formula.
