Calibre column check for "On Device"/"In Library" not accurate

When I reconnect my Xteink to Calibre, sometimes the software does not recognize which files have already been sent to my X4. It was have nothing checked off in the "On Device" column even though there are files there that I sent using the plugin. Is this expected behavior or something that would be considered a bug?

Not sure if this is related, but Calibre also never knows once I've disconnected my X4 from Calibre Wireless -- the "Device" button stays in the toolbar and I can continue to click and and see which files are "On Device" listed

From what I'm seeing there's two issues that cause this to not work.

1. The plugin fails where there's apostrophes, dashes or other punctuation in the title.
2. Titles beginning with The or A fail, presumably because a title like "The Title" will be rendered on device as "Title, The" in the filename as part of the title sort settings.

I see no issues with other titles.
