D2 code block in Markdown file is rendered after hit Save even though Preview pane is closed

Every time I hit Save on a Markdown file that has some embedded D2 code blocks, there is a slight delay. The delay can vary depending on the complexity of the diagrams. Even though I didn't even open a Preview pane.
