bookoo scale not working

I picked up a BOOKOO scale because it claims to be supported by Decent Espresso - both in the Decent Espresso app patch notes, as well as on the scale store page.

I cant for the life of me get it to connect. There doesnt appear to be a way to put the scale into bluetooth mode. You need to use BOOKOO app and to connect and then set the scale to auto-connect. After doing that, sometimes I can see the scale on the Decent Espresso app after spamming Search enough times, but even when its "connected" in the Decent Espresso app, it doesnt function properly and the blue light that indicates the scale is connected on the scale is not on.

Has anyone actually validated this thing works? Happy to pair with anyone to validate this is working or test any fixes.

It has worked for a lot of people, but it looks like another open source patch for another scale, broke the BOOKOO support.

I've just approved the fix from @geota as it looks right to me.

Please try de1app NIGHTLY and see if that works now.

Unfortunately, even after updating to nightly 1.46.0.5 my scale still is not functioning correctly. I double-checked and 1.46.0.5 does seem to be the correct nightly version that should contain the above PR fix.

1. Turn on BOOKOO scale.
2. Connect with the BOOKOO app and set the scale to Auto-Connect
3. Killed the BOOKOO app.
4. Power cycle the BOOKOO scale and hit search in the DE1APP scale search section.
5. I usually need to spam the search button a few times, but the BOOKOO scale eventually shows up and I am able to connect to it. The bluetooth indicator blue light will flash seemingly randomly but it does not stay on like it does when it is connected to the BOOKOO app.
6. At this point, the scale shows as connected in the DE1APP, but if I attempt to pour a shot, I get a warning about how the scale is not updating.
7. If I turn off the scale, it still shows as connected in the DE1APP.

Happy to work with anyone to try to get this working. I switched from a Felecita Arc which was working perfectly until it randomly decided to die.

I tried my BOOKOO scale today with the NIGHTLY version of de1app and it worked fine.

What tablet are you using? is it your own or one provided by decent?

I am geota :) I filed this issue and attempted to fix it.

I am using my own tablet. The original provided tablet's battery swelled up on me. I replaced it with a TECLAST P25T (Android 12). Fwiw, that tablet worked fine with the previous Felicita Arc scale I had connected.

I am going to try fully wiping the DE1APP and re-installing.

@decentjohn can you confirm that when your BOOKOO scale is connected to your DE1 that the blue bluetooth light indicator on the scale stays on?

Yah, I can confirm that the BOOKOO scale works just fine for me. The blue light stays on.

First thing to try is replacing ANDROWISH with a current version, because there were bluetooth bugs with older versions. There's a link to a good version here: https://decentespresso.com/downloads

if the new androwish doesn't fix your issue. The video is for an older android, but the idea is the same.
