OCTUi should check serial connection for presence of laser?

Need to know COM port (always the same? Is there a way to find out?)

If so, can connect and send commands to see status of laser:

serial - serial number - answers question: is there a laser there?

Can ask if laser is ON?
Can check mode (and set samples/ascan)?
