What would you like to do?
Improve consistency of element apps across different platforms, and improve user experience by separating rooms in spaces from rooms that function as direct messages and group chats.
Why would you like to do it?
This would make the element-x experience much better by organizing rooms that are within spaces under their respective spaces, reducing the current feeling of redundancy and clutter by having spaces from rooms in the main spaces list as well as in the spaces.
Especially in light of users leaving the platform Discord, this would drastically improve the experience of switching to matrix, making it much more familiar of a messaging experience. This would be important to have on the ios app as well.
How would you like to achieve it?
Implementing the preference as it is on element web and desktop, preferably defaulting to off as shown below.
Digging around a little, I found some issues in the element classic repository around this. There was no answer provided as to why the feature was there but then removed from element classic, although this was back in 2022. element-hq/element-android#7254
Even if a preference switch wasn't added, simply defaulting to having rooms associated with spaces not showing up in home would solve the main issue of clutter, redundancy, and confusion for new users.
