Hello Maintainers,
First, thank you for maintaining this repository and making this important CSIRT information accessible to the public. It is a valuable resource.
I am opening this issue to raise a suggestion regarding the choice of hosting platform, particularly in the context of the European Union's strategic goals for digital sovereignty.
The observation
This repository, which contains important information is currently hosted on GitHub. As you are aware, GitHub is a US-owned and operated platform (subsidiary of Microsoft). Given the strong and growing emphasis the EU places on digital sovereignty, data autonomy, and supporting its own digital ecosystem, hosting this data exclusively or primarily on a non-EU platform seems misaligned with those core principles.
The proposal
I would like to suggest migrating this repository to be primarily hosted on an EU-based, non-profit, and open-source platform, such as Codeberg.org. Codeberg is a non-profit organization based in Germany (EU). It runs on Gitea, an open-source platform, which itself aligns well with public service values.
This would ensure the canonical source of this data resides fully within the EU's legal jurisdiction and ecosystem.
GitHub as a mirror
This suggestion does not mean GitHub has to be abandoned. GitHub is excellent for visibility and community interaction.
The ideal solution would be: Primary/Canonical Repository: Hosted on Codeberg.org. Mirror Repository: This GitHub repository would be kept as a read-only mirror of the Codeberg repository, ensuring continued accessibility and visibility for those accustomed to using GitHub. (This push-mirroring is easily configurable).
With kind regards,
