How to create gradient with any angle and stop locations?

In Oklab. I want to generate a PIL image with any width, height, number of stops and stop locations, and direction vector for the angle. Basically Photoshop gradients. I need it to be very very very very very very fast, so I gave up on writing my own since I have no experience in color. Is this possible? If not with this library, can you recommend me as to how to go about this? Thanks!

I don't fully understand what you are asking to be honest, but I'll answer generally as best I can.

We don't directly interact with PIL, nor do most color libraries, they normally focus on the color portion, not the image portion, that is what PIL is for. You have to write that code.

Sure, you can interpolate with any number of stops and stop locations. I don't know if all libraries make this easy for the user, but ColorAide does.

I assume you are talking about the direction of the gradient in the image? If so, ColorAide simply transforms colors (as due most color libraries), you have to control how those colors are written to the image and at what angle.

ColorAide is not going to be the fastest approach. It's a pure Python and object oriented library. It is designed to be very accessible and make working with colors easier for the average user, but speed is not its main focus. It will do a lot of complicated stuff for you. If you need to interpolate various numbers of colors with specific stops? No problem.

If you want fast, Colour Science is a pretty fast color library. It forgoes the bloat of color objects and provides simple, straightforward functions aimed at being fast, though it may have a larger learning curve. It isn't going to automate color stops and such for you, but it does have some interpolation utilities. You will likely have to wrap the interpolation logic with code to control your specified color stops. It is very powerful, but you'll have to dig around and figure out how to use it all.
