Sample app download failure

Hey,
Firstly, this is a great solution for the usually convoluted system of data g/s. Thanks.
The sample app, however, is failing to download anything regardless of whether I am on wifi or 4g. Maybe the imgur url is dead?

Also, can this model work with SyncAdapter(https://developer.android.com/training/sync-adapters/index.html) according to you?
