Raspberry Pi OS Lite? Or is the desktop enviroment required?

I don't want to be running a desktop environment unnecessarily so it makes sense to me to install Raspberry Pi OS Lite. Especially as it is my understanding is that a Pi Zero 2 can barely run a desktop environment anyway.

But the instructions don't mention any of that so I wonder, will I be missing some critical dependency if I go with Lite?

Or maybe I'm worrying about the desktop environment overhead too much?

Update for anyone looking into this in the future: It works fine with the Lite OS. No desktop environment required, apparently.
