Details

The plugin connects directly to your self-hosted Navidrome server through its Subsonic-compatible API.

It can retrieve recently added albums, random albums, library totals, album artwork, and active playback sessions. The Recent layout is designed as the default dashboard, with your latest album on the left, a recently added album list on the right, and artist, album, and track totals across the bottom.

The Now Playing layouts use Navidrome's getNowPlaying endpoint. They display activity reported by compatible Navidrome, Subsonic, and OpenSubsonic clients. Playback progress is estimated using the reported session age and track duration, so it may not be exact if playback is paused, seeked, buffered, or the client stops reporting updates.

Settings

The settings page lets you configure:

• Navidrome server URL
• Navidrome username
• Display layout
• Number of additional recently added albums in Recent layout
• Mixed layout album source: newest album or random album

Available layouts:

• Recent — newest album, additional recently added albums, and library totals
• Random — one random album per scheduled refresh
• Stats — full-screen artist, album, and track totals
• Mixed — featured album plus library totals
• Now Playing — one featured active playback session
• Now Playing List — up to two active playback sessions

Navidrome Password Setup

The plugin uses a Navidrome password stored as an InkyPi API Key.

1. Open the InkyPi front page.
2. Click the key icon to open the API Keys page.
3. Add a new key with this exact name:

NAVIDROME_PASSWORD

4. Paste the password for the Navidrome user configured in the plugin settings.
5. Save the key.
6. Add the Navidrome Library plugin to a playlist or open it directly.
7. Enter the Navidrome server URL and username.
8. Choose a layout and configure its options.
9. Save the plugin settings and refresh the display.

Use an address reachable from the Raspberry Pi running InkyPi. Do not use localhost unless Navidrome and InkyPi run on the same device.

Now Playing Setup

The Now Playing and Now Playing List layouts require Navidrome Now Playing support to be enabled.

For a navidrome.toml configuration:

EnableNowPlaying = true

For Docker Compose or another environment-variable-based installation:

ND_ENABLENOWPLAYING=true

Your playback client also needs to report listening activity to Navidrome. Compatible clients can appear in Navidrome's own Now Playing page and in this plugin while actively playing music.

Notes

• The plugin uses Navidrome's Subsonic-compatible API endpoints, including getAlbumList2, getArtists, getScanStatus, getCoverArt, and getNowPlaying.
• Navidrome must finish scanning your library before recently added albums and library totals can be complete.
• The Navidrome user configured in the plugin must have access to the music library.
• Random Album can occasionally select the same album again on later scheduled refreshes.
• Cover art depends on metadata and artwork being available in Navidrome.
• Now Playing only reflects playback sessions that Navidrome has received from active clients.
• Progress bars in Now Playing layouts are estimated rather than live player-control data.
• Pausing, seeking, buffering, or losing client connectivity can make the displayed progress estimate inaccurate.
• The plugin queries Navidrome when InkyPi renders the display, so shorter playlist refresh intervals create more API requests.
• If Navidrome uses a self-signed HTTPS certificate, the InkyPi host must trust that certificate.
• Keep the Navidrome password private and store it only in InkyPi API Keys.
• The plugin communicates directly with the configured Navidrome server and does not upload music, artwork, playback data, or credentials to an external service.
