To increase long-term engagement and leverage our existing XP/leveling system, we should implement visual evolution and a multi-buddy collection/reroll system.
Proposed Features
1. Visual Evolution
- Multi-Stage Sprites: Buddies should change visually at key level milestones (e.g., Level 15, 30, 50).
- Animation Upgrades: Unlock new idle animations or special 'prestige' effects (glows, particles) as they grow.
- Evolution Logic: Tie visual changes to the existing XP curve.
2. Buddy Collection & Gacha System
- Multiple Slots: Allow users to maintain a 'roster' of buddies (initially 1-3 slots, expandable).
- Reroll / Gacha: Introduce a way to 'scout' for new companions without releasing the current one.
- Themed/Seasonal Pulls: Future support for limited-time species or rarity modifiers.
Motivation
- Encourages continued use of the CLI through a sense of progression.
- Leverages the 21-species roster and rarity system.
- Directly addresses community demand for more interactive and less static companions.
