Sim class should return outputs with consistent dimensions

if the output has originarily dimension (1,1) the sim class outputs a scalar, which is not consistent

I intentionally cast things with shape (1,1) to float to avoid some problem. I just have to remember what problem. I'll revert that and see what breaks
