What is the best way to step through the code ?

Hi, I want to to step through the code and look at it in detail.

However MPI will give me Segmentation fault error:

[gantosaxe:07615] *** Process received signal ***
[gantosaxe:07615] Signal: Segmentation fault (11)
[gantosaxe:07615] Signal code:  (128)
[gantosaxe:07615] Failing at address: (nil)

Is there a way to run the code without MPI or a reasonable way to debug it ?
