After an upgrade of the OTBR version 3.1.1 to 3.1.2 the OTBR app/add-on isn't working

Describe the issue you are experiencing

After upgrades the OTBR app/add-on isn't working. I can't connect to my two eve energy smart plugs that support matter / thread. They were working prior where I could control them on/off and get energy readings from them.

Upgrades yesterday were: matter server 9.1.1 to 9.2.0 and OTBR 3.1.1 to 3.1.2. I don't recall any other updates the same day it broke.

Installation method: Home Assistant OS
Core: 2026.8.3
Supervisor: 2026.08.0
Operating System: 18.2
Frontend: 20260729.7

I've tried resolving the issue on my own by 1) rebooting the system 2) re-starting OTBR + matter 3) re-starting just OTBR. Changing the web interface port from 8123 to 80 so I can match the future plans with the project. Nothing is really working and I may be getting different logs depending on which reboot was last. I haven't been careful to track the order of everything I tried.

Here is the error I see now when I navigate to settings > devices & services > OTBR

When I click the log option from the above view it shows one entry that it labeled a warning:

If I view the log from settings > apps > OTBR > log tab I see more output but I don't trust it is current because the date it shows is two days ago. Maybe it's a comprehension issue on my side? I have attached a file with the last 1000 lines and I've added the last 10

Good news. Today I uninstalled the OTBR app and reinstalled and it’s working for me now. I needed a reboot in there too but it was because I changed the log level. That may have played a role in it working again.

When I reinstalled I only had to update the config to point to my ZBT1 again. Nothing else needed to be reconfigured. My smart plugs worked again without handing to re provision them.

I tried re-installing the OTBR add-on but without success.
The add-on fails on boot and none of my devices is working anymore.

As @thunderdan suggested I did the following and OpenThread Border Router (OTBR) is working on my system.

1. Removed OTBR from the system and kept all data.
2. Fully rebooted the system incl. server
3. Installed OTBR
4. Fully rebooted the system incl. server
5. Restarted Matter Server

After the restart of Matter Server it took some time until all Matter devices and entities were back online.

The errors in log file as shown in above post vanished.

I tried both ways. Just remove and reinstall and the 5 steps mentioned above. Both with and without removing the data but all with the samen outcome. OTBR keeps crashing shortly after starting.
