10.0.0 🎉

[KillyMXI]

html-to-text version 10.0.0 is finally released (along with CLI version 0.6.0), 3 years after previous release!

This is mostly a maintenance release - to bring it up to date with current ecosystem and resolve some compatibility issues.

• No new features are added here, but some are available from upstream dependencies.
• No deprecated features are removed in this version - to ease the transition.
  • Requirement changes and minor behavior changes from upstream dependencies are the main source of breaking changes here.
  • Deprecated features cleanup is scheduled for v11.

Requirements

• Node.js >= 20.19.0;
• Language version >= ES2022.

Dependency updates

• selderee updated from 0.11.0 to 0.12.0 (changelog) and parseley - from 0.12.0 to 0.13.1 (changelog)
  • added :empty, :first-child, :last-child, :only-child and :any-link pseudo-classes support;
  • selectors tree normalization improvements;
• htmlparser2 updated from 8.0.2 to 10.1.0 (release notes)
  • more spec-compliant parsing of entities, textarea and xmp tags;
• replaced deepmerge with deepmerge-ts;
  • all dependencies are now ESM/CJS dual packages;
  • Note: future versions of htmlparser2 are ESM-only, so html-to-text v11 will follow suit.

Other

• adjusted package.json exports;
• replaced test framework from Chai/Mocha to AVA, refined tests structure and using snapshots more extensively.
