All external contributors must have a signed Contributor License Agreement (CLA) on file before their contributions can be merged.
This project uses a CLA from day 1 because it is dual-licensed:
- community releases are available under AGPL-3.0-or-later;
- commercial licenses may be issued separately by the project owner.
By contributing, you keep ownership of your contribution, but you grant the project owner the rights needed to use, modify, distribute, sublicense, and relicense your contribution as part of Promtact under both open-source and commercial licenses.
Each contributor grants the project owner:
- a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable copyright license to use, reproduce, modify, prepare derivative works of, publicly perform, publicly display, sublicense, and distribute the contribution;
- permission to license the contribution under AGPL-3.0-or-later and separate commercial licenses;
- a patent license for any patent claims necessarily infringed by the contribution.
Each contributor confirms that:
- they have the right to submit the contribution;
- their employer or organization has authorized the contribution if required;
- the contribution is their original work or is submitted with compatible permissions;
- they will not knowingly submit code that violates third-party rights.
Contributions are provided "as is", without warranty or liability.
Until an automated CLA bot is configured, maintainers must record CLA approval manually before merging external contributions.
Required record fields:
- contributor legal name;
- GitHub username or commit email;
- individual or company contributor status;
- date accepted;
- accepting maintainer;
- CLA version.
