Critical failures on used machines

I have a problem while playing on the server... Used fortschritt e514 combine harvester (mod),It had been serviced the day before and was working without any problems.After leaving the game and entering the next day It doesn't start magically and It has a broken timing belt, oil pump, injectors... Cooling system etc.. 1000 euros worth... And the repair cost is half the price of a new one... This must be some kind of bug, right?

Hi! The screenshot shows that you ignored the service interval: 8.9 hours with a 7.5-hour interval.

Considering that your harvester already has 43.6 hours, which with default settings is almost half of the vehicle’s entire lifespan, it is no longer new and becomes very sensitive to things like this — for example, exceeding the service interval by 20%+.

Judging by the variety of breakdowns across all systems, the overdue service interval is most likely what caused all these issues.

Literally 1 hour of work ago.I bought it used with 33 hours of use. Left completely functional, completely destroyed upon return

Then please show the Maintenance Log: it contains all information about the procedures you performed.

“1 month ago” means that an inspection was performed 1 month ago, and at that moment the service level was satisfactory.

Well, everything lines up: you performed minimum maintenance at 34.8 hours, and around 8.9 operating hours have passed since then.

The breakdowns happened because the service interval was overdue.

What do you mean by “without further using the harvester”? You did use it and exceeded the service interval by more than 20%.

Yes, the breakdowns from the overdue service interval are serious in your case, but this is a gameplay abstraction in the mod, and it can be adjusted. In real life, of course, a machine would not die or even notice 2 extra hours. But in real life, there are also no 5–10-hour service intervals — they are more like 100 times longer.

If we continue the analogy, then at the game scale this is like driving for hundreds of hours with old dirty oil, dirty filters, and so on.

By default, ADS is balanced around standard game settings: 1 day per month and x3–x5 time scale. At that scale, the overdue interval in your case is already significant.

If you think the consequences are too severe, lower stress accumulation in the settings or increase the vehicle lifespan.

I also realized that you may not fully understand the difference between Maintenance and repair.

Maintenance is service maintenance: replacing technical fluids, filters, refreshing lubrication, and so on. This is the mandatory procedure that should be performed within the service interval, and it is what resets the interval back to 0.

What you performed was a repair. And about an hour after that repair, other breakdowns appeared.

The thing is, in ADS, all vehicle systems live independently from each other: engine, transmission, chassis, and so on. When you exceed the service interval, each system starts accumulating additional stress from that, but the accumulation rate is different for each system.

For example, dirty and worn engine oil is much more harmful than old coolant in the cooling system. You exceeded the service interval, and the first breakdowns appeared. You repaired them, but then continued driving with an overdue service interval — so breakdowns started appearing in other systems.

After the repair, I recommend performing Preventive maintenance. It is basically service maintenance with preventive repair: it reduces stress in systems where a lot of it has already accumulated.
