For future updates 19 Apr 2026 onwards jump to item number 11.

I'm reproducing the steps here to get it working so its easy for others. This is what worked for me.

1. Download QT Tabbar vs 1043
2. Install as administrator. Right click the EXE and run as administrator.
3. As indiff stated in this post: :v1.5.6 Stopped showing win11 25h2 26220.7271 #427 (comment)
4. Download from https://github.com/thebookisclosed/ViVe/releases
5. Extract the file to a local folder eg. C:\vivetools
6. Open a command prompt as administrator. (right click run CMD as administrator)
7. Type CD C:\vivetools , press enter
8. Type

vivetool /disable /id:57048216 , press enter
vivetool /disable /id:57048237 , press enter
vivetool /disable /id:58988972 , press enter

*updated
a message should show saying : "Successfully set feature configuration"

8. Restart computer.
9. QT tab bar working :-) Go to the VIEW TAB (3rd from left) in explorer. Go to the options button (far right) dropdown, the DOWN ARROW and select QTTabbar

10. However I also switched to windows 10 explorer using: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher
    as well as windows 10 taskbar.

11. (KB5083769) (26200.8246) 19 Apr 2026. Microslop is no goooood.

12. Open start menu and type "Regedit"

13. In the top entry/navigation bar type: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides
    and press enter.

14. This should then navigate to:

The registry ID's are NOT THE SAME as the feature ID's used in Vivetool.

16. Search for each registry ID. Type Ctrl + F and paste in the registry ID.

17. Right Click the Registry ID folder and select permissions from the drop down menu. Then select "advanced."

18. At the top where it says "Owner" it should be set to SYSTEM.

Click change and in the entry box type in your username. Then click "checknames" and it should find your name. Press enter when done.

19. In the persmissions entries window select Add. Then add a Principal and set it to your username, then click enter.

Set the Basic Permissions to full control and click ok.

20. Delete the registry key by right clicking and selecting delete.

21. Repeat this process for each Registry ID.

22. Restart computer. You do not need to reselt the drag down boxes and so on. It works as before.

23. It works. Thanks to kbsmilk QTTabBar no longer works on Windows 11 25H2 after March 2026 Security update (build 26200.8037) #432 (comment)

NOTE: If your windows explorer is slow and unresponsive press F11 Twice to enter and exit full screen mode. This resets the UI and fixes the lag.

Thank you for the detailed steps. I didn't have to download an older version since I've always used version 2048 beta 2, and I only had to use vivetool to disable the ID and restart. After restarting my PC the qttabbar tabs reappeared, and without needing to do what you mentioned in step 9 ☺️

Thank you for the detailed steps. I didn't have to download an older version since I've always used version 2048 beta 2, and I only had to use vivetool to disable the ID and restart. After restarting my PC the qttabbar tabs reappeared, and without needing to do what you mentioned in step 9 ☺️

I can't say anything about that version; I've always used the latest version, 2048 beta 2, and it works fine. I use Windows 11 Explorer because I'm already used to it, and I use it without the default tabs. I had to use a Windhawk mod to hide the native tabs so that the file explorer wouldn't look overloaded with native tabs and qttabbar tabs

Thank you so much. Didn't even update to 25H2 yet, instead a recent update for 24H2 made QtTabBar stop working. Thankfully, I all had to do was install vivetools, use the command, and restart to get it back up and running. You're a life saver.

The Windows update causing a problem is indeed (KB5072033) (26200.7462), part of which corrects a flickering issue with the explorer on some devices.
So, while waiting to find a solution, I had uninstalled this update then blocked with WindowsUpdateMinitool.
Despite this, the following update, (KB5074109) (26200.7623) from January 15, 2026, posed the same problem for the QTTabBar plugin buttons that disappeared.
I finally applied the solution of indiff on another post and whose procedure you summarize very well on this post, 9812 ga98sd.
It works very well, although I had trouble using ViVeTool... For this, I found a tutorial and presentation of the application on: https://www.justgeek.fr/vivetool-fonctionnalites-cachees-windows-138753/
All I have to do is thank you, 9812 ga98sd. ; Indiff; and the two creators of the app: Rafael Rivera and Lucas (@thebookisclosed) To allow us to continue with QTTabBar, which no longer seems to be updated, but still visibly has many users, and which is a great evolution of the Explorer windaube.

La mise à jour de Windows qui pose problème est bien la (KB5072033) (26200.7462) dont une partie corrige un souci de clignotement de l'explorateur sur certains appareils.
Du coup, en attendant de trouver une solution, j'avais désinstallé cette Màj puis bloqué avec WindowsUpdateMinitool.
Malgré cela la mise à jour suivante, (KB5074109) (26200.7623) du 15 janvier 2026, posait le même problème pour les boutons de plugins de QTTabBar qui disparaissaient.
J'ai finalement appliqué la solution d'indiff sur un autre post et dont tu résumes très bien la procédure sur ce post, 9812 ga98sd.
Cela fonctionne très bien, bien que j'ai eu du mal à utiliser ViVeTool... Pour cela j'ai trouvé un tuto et une présentation de l'application sur : https://www.justgeek.fr/vivetool-fonctionnalites-cachees-windows-138753/
