For future updates 19 Apr 2026 onwards jump to item number 11.

I'm reproducing the steps here to get it working so its easy for others. This is what worked for me.

  1. Download QT Tabbar vs 1043
  2. Install as administrator. Right click the EXE and run as administrator.
  3. As indiff stated in this post: :v1.5.6 Stopped showing win11 25h2 26220.7271 #427 (comment)
  4. Download from https://github.com/thebookisclosed/ViVe/releases
  5. Extract the file to a local folder eg. C:\vivetools
  6. Open a command prompt as administrator. (right click run CMD as administrator)
  7. Type CD C:\vivetools , press enter
  8. Type

vivetool /disable /id:57048216 , press enter
vivetool /disable /id:57048237 , press enter
vivetool /disable /id:58988972 , press enter

a message should show saying : "Successfully set feature configuration"

  1. Restart computer.
  2. QT tab bar working :-) Go to the VIEW TAB (3rd from left) in explorer. Go to the options button (far right) dropdown, the DOWN ARROW and select QTTabbar

  1. However I also switched to windows 10 explorer using: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher
    as well as windows 10 taskbar.

  2. (KB5083769) (26200.8246) 19 Apr 2026. Microslop is no goooood.

  3. Open start menu and type "Regedit"

  1. In the top entry/navigation bar type: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides
    and press enter.

The registry ID's are NOT THE SAME as the feature ID's used in Vivetool.

  1. Search for each registry ID. Type Ctrl + F and paste in the registry ID.

  2. Right Click the Registry ID folder and select permissions from the drop down menu. Then select "advanced."

  1. At the top where it says "Owner" it should be set to SYSTEM.

Click change and in the entry box type in your username. Then click "checknames" and it should find your name. Press enter when done.

  1. In the persmissions entries window select Add. Then add a Principal and set it to your username, then click enter.

Set the Basic Permissions to full control and click ok.

  1. Delete the registry key by right clicking and selecting delete.

  2. Repeat this process for each Registry ID.

  3. Restart computer. You do not need to reselt the drag down boxes and so on. It works as before.

  4. It works. Thanks to kbsmilk QTTabBar no longer works on Windows 11 25H2 after March 2026 Security update (build 26200.8037) #432 (comment)

NOTE: If your windows explorer is slow and unresponsive press F11 Twice to enter and exit full screen mode. This resets the UI and fixes the lag.
