This issue applies to all Cinnamon menu applets, not just this one. Apparently, there is a known bug in Clutter that affects the way menus display their entries when zoom is enabled. The symptoms are that the menu items disappear unless the mouse is over them while the desktop is zoomed. I am visually impaired and the environment is not usable unless I can use the zoom function.
