Drop Windows 2019 controller images

What feature do you want to see added?

When Windows 2025 images are added, we should drop Windows 2019 images so the next LTS version doesn't include it.

For users who must use Windows for their controller and are stuck on Windows 2019, the workaround is either to:

• Install Jenkins controller via the MSI available via the "Windows" links on https://www.jenkins.io/download/
• Build their own image

#2370 merged, next Weekly and LTS releases won't include Windows 2019 images.

Thanks for the tag (I guess I've become known around here as the only windows Jenkins user...).

I know this has been talked about for a while now, but I don't keep an active eye on the github - some kind of warning for this coming within Jenkins itself would have been appreciated to give us time to prepare, plan and act as needed

Oh good point, thanks for the reminder. We totally can add an administrative monitor to let users be aware in the upcoming weeks.

Please note that this change is only planned for the weekly release: I assume you're using the LTS channel which won't be impacted for 2.555.x (only the next LTS line, 2.568.y, will be impacted) so you still have a few weeks in front of you.

Just on this topic - I think the latest (so if I understand correctly, the last one that will be pushed) release of the 2019 image is again based off an older version of Jenkins - not sure how much anyone cares now if support is being dropped but thought it was worth mentioned.
We are now working towards running based off the 2025 images so this isn't a large concern for me (unless it happens to affect all the windows images)

Looks like an issue from the last LTS build (always these rogue builds triggered when a release takes too much time :'( ).

Pinging @lemeurherve for a fix (I guess with buildx or skopeo to get the tagged image and push it to latest for Windows 2019 "latest")

Thanks! It helps us to prioritize! 2025 are not being dropped as part of this issue. Just be aware, though, that maybe we'll discuss in the future about even dropping the Windows controller image (not agents) but it's a long shot
