Jenkins crashes on config save, when OpenAI with custom http:// endpoint

Environment

Windows Server

• Jenkins Version: Version 2.541.3
• Plugin Version: 135.v6b_c584cb_1557
• Java Version: 21.0.10 Microsoft

Steps to Reproduce

1. Choose OpenAI, enter local e.g. sk-sd97f8sd7f6sd8f76whatever key, enter some real existing openai compatible endpoint (company production litellm in my case) http://192.168.178.23:4000/v1, enter a modelname. e.g. gpt - which is known to be correctly routed by litellm and used by other services as well-
2. hit save. Jenkins crashes. Unfortunately I cannot provide stacktrace for now. The Admin is on vacation.
3. it must have to do with the url - as long as you leave this unchanged, jenkins saves and does not crash.
4. if there was a crash, the data was not saved any more. It is possible to save changes in Provider, API key, model name. It is NOT possible to change and save URL.

Expected Behavior

working plugin, no full jenkins crash

Actual Behavior

Jenkins crash on save. no automatic restart.

Hi @TimoGoetze thanks for reporting the issue!

I tried to reproduce it by starting a Jenkins instance using Docker image jenkins/jenkins:2.541.3-jdk21 (see my test repo test-explain-error-plugin), but I wasn’t able to encounter the same problem.

Here are the steps I followed:

1. Jenkins -> Manage Jenkins -> System
2. Enable AI Error Explanation

I don’t have a custom HTTP endpoint configured, and everything worked as expected on my side.

Please provide more details, such as a stack trace or a screenshot. That would help a lot in diagnosing the issue.
