can markdown output use pipe_tables?

Based on the docs it seems like pandoc should be able to generate Markdown output with pipe tables. Is this correct?

I'm not able to get it to work. I'm using this HTML:

  <tr>
    <td>style</td>
    <td>amount</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td>green</td>
    <td>827</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td>blue</td>
    <td>1024</td>
  </tr>
</table>

processing like so with v3.9.0.2:

tr -d '\n' < input.html | pandoc -f html -t markdown+pipe_tables -o -

And the output looks like this:

  ------- --------
  style   amount
  green   827
  blue    1024
  ------- --------

Yes, it can produce pipe tables. But if the simple_tables extension is enabled, it will prefer that format. You can disable simple_tables (and maybe also some of the other table extensions, e.g. -t markdown-simple_tables-multiline_tables-grid_tables), or use -t gfm, which only supports pipe tables.

Oh nice, thank you! Looks like just -t markdown-simple_tables does work.

(Also, I should have used <th>s instead of <td>s in that first row, whoops.)
