Hello! Sorry for the delay.
Indeed this is not being maintained.
Currently I was only planning in upgrading the current WebExtension manifest version.

A fork would make sense indeed, but I would love to at least show you the workflow on how to submit the extension, and some of the challenges involved.

Did anything come of this? I did a much more basic implementation of this idea for my own use, in case you want something to install locally with code that is easy to inspect.
