[Enhancement]: Allow creators to choose video thumbnail #584
Description
Description
As a creator on the platform, I'd really like to be able to choose where in the video the thumbnail is generated from if I don't like the thumbnail that Loops automatically selects for me. My videos usually don't cleanly loop so I've been using a fade-in/fade-out on my uploads to make it less jarring when the video repeats, but it seems the thumbnail photo is now generated from the first frame of the video, so my upload just gets a blank, black thumbnail, as seen below:
The funny thing is, the second video in that list (the closeup of a gas lantern with a snowy backdrop) also fades in at the beginning and fades out at the end, but the thumbnail was generated from somewhere in the middle of the video - so thumbnail generation behavior has changed in the time between that upload and now.
Use-case
Creators who have fade-in or other distorting/obscuring effects at the beginning of their video would be able to choose a thumbnail that is more representative of the video's actual content. This change would make such videos more enticing for users to click on from the search or explore pages.
