NDVI Satellite Imagery Integration

Integrate a satellite imagery API (like Sentinel Hub or Google Earth Engine) to fetch real-time NDVI (Vegetation Index) tiles. Overlay these tiles onto the farmer's drawn Leaflet polygons so they can visually see crop health and water stress from space.

I'd love to take this issue.

Adding NDVI overlays is going to give the farm management map a huge upgrade. Looking at the current Next.js + FastAPI setup, my general game plan would be:

• On the backend (FastAPI): Set up a service to talk to Sentinel Hub (probably using their Python SDK since it plays really nice with Leaflet WMS layers) to pull the relevant satellite data using the farm's polygon coordinates. We can cache the tile data or URLs in Supabase so we aren't hammering the external API on every single page load.

• On the frontend (Next.js): Grab those NDVI tiles and layer them right over the existing Leaflet map. I'll also add a simple opacity slider in the UI so the farmer can easily fade between the standard satellite view and the crop health heat map.

It'll be a killer feature for tracking water stress and crop health directly from the dashboard.

If this approach looks good to you, could you assign it to me? Let me know if you have a strong preference for Sentinel Hub over Earth Engine before I dive in!
