In what angles this is better than native quicktime recorder?

I'm not asking to be the party pooper - rather, as I was looking for such a software and found yours, I was told at the same time that Quicktime can do it natively, and therefore i think it would be a good "selling point" to explain what bettercapture does better.

Hi @y-nk, thanks for raising this question. Let me try to answer:

Feature Differences: BetterCapture is an attempt to fill the missing "professional" screen recording features such as ProRes Codecs, content filtering, system audio + mic simultaneously etc. QuickTime might catch up in the future, but it's hard to tell how much priority and capacity Apple is willing to put into QuickTime.

Community Driven: Beside the feature differences, BetterCapture is open source and everyone who is interested has the chance to either contribute or just fork the project and do whatever they like. I have a certain vision for this project but this can be influenced by people getting involved here in discussions or by contributing code.

all good for me :) i think you'll have some success, as i'm not fond of the exports of quicktime myself but i think it was worth raising.

as the only one feature that i wish and could not yet find, is the recording of keystrokes. that's a must have for any software demo :)

Did you consider using keycastr to record keystrokes? I used it for a few recordings and it works pretty well. I personally don't mind to have this as a separate application.

@jsattler i do, but i think if a software can record mouse clicks with visual feedbacks, embed camera feed and mic + system mix, it would make sense to have keystrokes too.
