What's the point of the recording overlay? (RecordingOverlayView.swift)

Problem Statement

I'm a bit confused as to why a second menu bar item pops up when you frame a recording. The main menu already has a "Start Recording" button and a live preview. Not sure why you need a second menu bar pop-up with the same information.

@joshuahhh what do you mean with second menu bar item? Are you referring to the preview overlay that opens after you selected the content (which is btw not released)?

edit: sorry, I missed to read the title. The point of the RecordingOverlayView is to allow the user to start the recording right after content was selected. The issue is that the MenuBarSettingsView gets hidden when the user selects content and they have to click on the menu bar item again to open the popover to start the recording. Initially, I planned to re-open the MenuBarSettingsView, which is probably what you expect. However, this is not trivial, since the MenuBarSettingsView is part of the MenuBarExtra with .window style, which does not expose any API to programmatically open or close the popover.

Hope this answers your question. If you have any idea how to re-open the MenuBarSettingsView directly after content was selected, I'm happy to move forward in this direction.
