I just wanted to say thank you for this, @jvdillon! I appreciate all the time and effort you've put into this. Have a happy new year from Texas!

Edit: I didn't introduce myself. I'm just an Openshift engineer from Texas who enjoys lots and lots of football. Football is how I connect with a lot of my family but we can't always watch the same game due to regional broadcasts. This community is helping solve that small circumstance.

Hi Albert! Happy new year! Thanks for the thanks! This project turned out to be massively more complex then I thought...which is probably why none existed at the time. (Its a pity we cannot get nodecast-tv to merge--Id love to have a best-in-class fully OSS project...though I guess jellyfin folks feel like theyre first.)

I lived in Austin, Texas for a summer (worked at IBM) and love it. I miss the Salt Lick and 6th Street music. I'm a semi-retired ML Scientist and like to have some TV on in the background to keep me company during the day.

Super cool! Looks like we were very close since I work at Red Hat and live in the between San Antonio and Austin.

Admittedly, I initially went towards nodecast-tv because they got docker support up pretty quick but streaming DID NOT work. They've got a few GitHub issues that experienced the same as myself and I have refrained from commenting on them to "give neTV a try" because I felt that'd be rude.

In any case, neTV is legit and hope it continues to gain traction in the community

nodecast-tv looks to be roughly at where I was two months ago--you almost immediately realize that the main need and complexity is in transcoding. Having said that I do think the nodecast-tv UI looks more polished so thats something to learn from.

I actually think the most special part of this project is building ffmpeg from source. This unlocks tons of flexibility and potential. For example, Im working on cuda integration for ML/AI capabilities such as super-res.
