Sync Issues with Canvas & Excalidraw Files

What you did

Canvases: I didn't realise there was an issue at first until I made an edit on my PC, switched to my phone which synced fine but then looked back at my PC and the canvas file had reverted to the version without the updates I made, which was confusing. I then restarted obsidian on my phone and my phone had the old version but then my PC had the updated version, it seemed to switch versions every time I restarted obsidian on my phone for some reason

Excalidraw (already reported via Discord): In Excalidraw on obsidian you have to save the file after making an edit (see attachment. The issue is that upon saving all of obsidian freezes and you have to restart but most of the time the changes do save. I believe this is a sync issue as it doesn't happen with YAOS not installed

I have noted this issue, and I will investigate this as soon as I can. (I have been swamped for the past few days)

The fix for the freezing issue should be relatively straightforward, but I will say, that the "save the file after making an edit" depends more on the excalidraw plugin, than YAOS.

Depending on how the Excalidraw plugin handles persistence and write-to-disk, we might need some work done on the plugin side to properly support realtime-sync for excalidraw.

Obsidian Sync users also complain on forums that when the plugin saves frequently, they see many versions in file history, which can consume a lot of storage.

Basically, the obsidian excalidraw plugin wasn't designed around supporting sync. Ideally, YAOS syncs excalidraw not using its auto-save path, but rather piping the exact state of the canvas to YAOS's DO.

But since it's a popular plugin, I'm interesting in seeing this through.

I will say that the freezing is quite sporadic in terms of when it happens, like some days it will save and sync fine then other days all it does is freeze.

But again I appreciate your work on this, don't let yourself get burnt out & take plenty of breaks :)
