Thunderbird 152.0.1 (64-bit), Windows 11 Pro.
This bug affects Gmail imap.gmail.com/smtp.gmail.com and MS Outlook outlook.office365.com users. Both use Oauth2.
With the keepassxc-mail extension enabled, Gmail OAuth2 authorization completes successfully on Google's side, but Thunderbird never stores the OAuth token (oauth://accounts.google.com is never created), and IMAP authentication never occurs.
This bug also prevents the Thunderbird process from shutting down. The Thunderbird process can be viewed, and terminated in Task Manager.
Disabling the keepassxc-mail extension immediately restores normal Gmail OAuth2 and Thunderbird operation.
- Enable keepassxc-mail.
- Remove the Gmail OAuth credential.
- Perform Gmail OAuth.
- Google accepts authentication and consent.
- Thunderbird never creates an oauth://accounts.google.com login.
- IMAP never synchronizes.
- Thunderbird remains running after exit.
- Disable keepassxc-mail.
- Repeat OAuth.
- Everything works normally.
Additional testing shows this is not Gmail-specific.
Confirmed affected:
Disabling keepassxc-mail immediately restores OAuth authentication for all of the above and allows Thunderbird to exit normally.
I use KeepassXC heavily so getting this working properly would be useful to me.
Thank you,
Craig
