Description
First of all thank you very much devs for your work on this great open source project.
Desalination plants are critical water infrastructure across the GCC and globally (e.g - Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia). These facilities are vital for freshwater supply and are sometimes targeted in regional conflicts or geopolitical tensions. Mapping them as a dedicated layer would help analysts monitor potential risks, incidents or emerging threats to civilian water systems. I got this idea of addition of this information from this video of one famouse teacher professor jiang - ( https://youtu.be/jIS2eB-rGv0?si=-8CLGRGZujrQsOgW ) . He told that Desalination plants are one of the biggest weakness of GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council - a regional political and economic alliance of six countries in the Arab states of the Persian Gulf. It’s also sometimes informally called the Gulf States.)
Btw these are the six members of GCC :
Saudi Arabia
Qatar
United Arab Emirates
Kuwait
Bahrain
Oman
Problem it solves
You can watch the video which is very much realistic and logical or you can use gemini/aistudio to summarize the big video and understand quickly what he discussed about and why and then you will get the complete picture of it ( In short those Gulf nations are essentially deserts with almost no natural freshwater. They rely heavily on massive, exposed desalination plants on the coast to turn seawater into drinking water. Striking these plants would immediately cause a survival crisis ). I thought any attacks information related to desalination plants will be valuable to observe in the map with news and proper coords.
