Project does not open in 5.6.7f1

Platform: Win10 64bit

The project won't open and is forever stuck in the Unity splash screen. Probably some bug in 5.6. Works fine if I upgrade it to a 2017.3 project but I don't know what breaks due to this.

for anyone that encounters this issue download version 5.6.7 through the exe installer from the unity website dont install through unity hub otherwise youll get this problem
