I'm generally speaking... mindblown by this https://maca88.github.io/SmartBikeLights/ form

On one hand, it feels like it is capable of unlocking some superpower of light control.

Questions in my head:

  1. Can I set a custom "brake" light by tracking deceleration and lighting up the rear light to max when that happens?
  2. Can I set a custom both lights coherence, where, for example, both lights are in night flash, and then randomly every 30-60 seconds they go full on daylight flash? I feel like it keeps other users on their toes, reminds them I'm here (especially in a big city)
  3. Probably many more..

But..

For the love of god, setting that up with the complex form feels like an absolute mindcrash. This is quite ok done, lots of "i"'s around to explain things, but it is still so complex, almost feels like some "preload" of settings or aggregation could help? I don't want to solutionize here, but I'm generally curious to learn and explore, but honestly, it feels like this will take me tons of trial and error hours.

The setup I try to navigate around might be intimidating:

  • Front - Garmin Varia UT800
  • Rear - Garmin Varia RT515
  • Computer - Garmin Edge 1040

It's probably one of the most capable with touch, with various capabilities on both lights.

And I'm saying all that as a Software Engineer, not someone who can't deal with tech... I'd be happy to give it a few hours to help you improve the docs or create a few interesting presets, maybe there are some already, and I haven't found them.

PS. Something important to note here, great work so far, great idea to try and improve light control, it looks like you've done a great job to get it to where it is so far with the support for so many different devices 👏🏻
