Data field is not updated (on Fenix 6x pro)

Hi,

First of all, great work!

I have the data field on my primary screen on my Fenix 6x pro. I noticed, that the data field (graphical representation of what's going on) is not updated, despite the smart mode is correctly working.

When I cycle between screens, the data field is updated to the current light mode, but then is stuck again on that image (until I switch again).

It does not impact functionality but it's confusing ( the watch does show something different form what the light is actually doing).

Is this a bug, am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation of my Fenix?

Hi,

Usually, this happens when a CIQ data field that uses background services is installed alongside Smart Bike Lights. I reported this issue to Garmin a while ago, but unfortunately, it hasn’t been fixed yet. Can you confirm whether you have Tempe Visualizer, TyreWiz Data Field, or any other data field that uses background services installed alongside Smart Bike Lights?

Based on the permissions required by these data fields, it seems that Running Power might be the one interfering with the LightNetwork API. Can you try to uninstall the Running Power data field, restart Fenix and then see whether Smart Bike Lights does update on light mode change?

You were correct. After testing I can confirm, that Running Power breaks the plugin. Removing it and the data field works as expected. On a side note - Running Power was not used as a data field in my activity - just having it installed is enough to break Smart bike lights.

Hi @maca88 ,
It has been a while, but I had the time to do some more experiments/observations:

• The Issue still happens with only the smart bike lights data field installed and used
• When the data field gets stuck, and then I reboot the watch, the data field on the data screen disappears and gets replaced by a timer field (Photo 1 and 2). I have to edit the data screen to re-enable the smart bike light field.
• Very often the Datafield appears twice in the ConnectIQ field list despite being only installed once (Foto 3)
• I think, that the problem often (always?) occurs after I charge my watch.
• Regularly it forgets the setting "smart" and reverts to "network" when starting a new activity.

I have no Idea how all this is related, but maybe it helpy you find hints to the problem. If there is anything I should try or check or help with, just tell me ;-)
