nice script, thanks man. the only downside is that when for some reason you need to detach from the tmux session, the whole ghossty will exit. I solved it by appending $SHELL command at the end of the script.

Thank you for the article. I tried it. But... didn't like it. In my workflow, I always know, that my first workspace is the Tmux. My second is browser. And so on. And quite often I just want to spin quick terminal (outside of Tmux) and I don't want to bloat it with my entire Tmux session/s.
So... I guess... this is not my cup of tea. But again, thank you for taking your time and writing an article.

@dzintars the ghostty config supports the initial-command option which might suit your use case better.

This is the same as "command", but only applies to the first terminal surface created when Ghostty starts

This is great, but you don't need a seperate script to detect if a session already exists, as the -A flag to new-session does this for you.

So you can just do:

command=tmux new-session -A -t ghostty

in your ~/.config/ghostty/config. You don't need ghostty-tmux.sh

@cm6051 I'm trying this setup, but I have a script in my tmux config for handling sessions that uses XDG_CONFIG_HOME env variable, and when launching tmux directly with the command option of ghostty, it doesn't have the environment it looks like.
