Streak count and journal use log date instead of read date

I started backlogging my reading data and I noticed that the streak has changed to 1 even though the reading information I entered is from a previous date. And in the journal it reflects the current date too, instead of the actual read date.

To reproduce:

• Mark a book as Reading
• Mark book as Read
• Edit start and end dates to any date previous to the current day

Expected: Streak changes only if the book logged was started/finished on the current date. Journal entry reflects the date when the book was read.
Currently: Streak changes even if the book was logged to a previous date, journal entry reflects date when the journal was added instead of the date it was read.

@somethingxblue, this is something of a known "thing" on my end, but welcome feedback.

Basically, the start and end dates on the reading_sessions table are different from the progress_logs records. In the normal flow, when a book hits 100% completion, there's logic to set the session end date the same as what you just (progress) logged.

HOWEVER, simply editing a session date - start or end - does not affect the progress log date... 😢 That's the core of the issue here. So basically, it's two different date fields that get out of sync with one another depending on how you update them.

Based on your feedback, I presume the ideal outcome is that editing the session's start and end date's will correct the streak/the progress logs?

My only main reservation/obstacle around that is progress log sequencing. For example, if you have a log at 100% progress that you edit the date before a log at 98%, data integrity is lost and things get kind of weird. I specifically built logic around this to ensure that data integrity was maintained, so maybe that's applicable here.

My suggestion for backfilling reads is to use the To Read -> Read transition, which will pop up a modal that will automatically set the start and end date correctly on both the progress log records and the reading session.

Yeah, I figured that editing the date fields would correct the streak/progress log, if not immediately at least when I recalculate the streak. I'm a bit of a lazy logger haha so I can imagine wanting to track progress % on a book but not doing it right away... But I understand it might be too complicated and I don't think it's dealbreaker.

I honestly didn't think of doing To Read -> Read directly, I will do that for the next ones.
