Documentation/example for rolling your own UI

I'm trying to understand if mdx-editor would be a fit for a project I'm working on. One thing I'd be interested in would be using MUI instead of Radix. From reading through many different issues and discussions I figured that this seems to be possible, but it's unclear how exactly and how difficult it would be. Also given the amount of issues and discussions this seems to be a common confusion.

My question:

• Is there any example implementation of swapping out parts of or the entire UI layer?
• Would it make sense to amend the Theming docs to cover this?
