You know, webkit2 plus Vala is not even a slightly bad idea. I've been fixing the little things which bother me, and it's a remarkably small build environment (since all the big web engine stuff lives behind webkit's API's). Rebuildilng from scratch is < 10s on my little i7 desktop at -j4. There really should be a community around this little gem.
