Shortcut does not re-open window

On Gnome, when I add the shortcut and press it, the Smile app is started and the window is shown. If the window is closed by selecting an emoji, the shortcut does basically nothing. No new window is shown or brought to front.

How do I add a shortcut that always shows the emoji selector, no matter if the app was already started or not?

Deactivating "minimize on exit" helped. I would love to keep it open because that is quicker, but if that is not possible, this is kinda okay.
