Kernel Panic

[blee-design]

I don't know what is this? It came up while I reboot after installing this driver.
I installed it then it boots normally. How can you help me?

It is not working on current running Linux image but it is working immediate previous image.
If I install current running this driver it says and displays panic lol 😂.

I think the panic happens because the driver from this repository and the driver from the kernel are loaded at the same time.

Kernel 6.19 already supports your device, so you should not need to install anything.

When installing a driver on initrd.img-6.18.12+kali-amd64 (latest kernel), it shows an error the above QR panic. Using older initrd.img files works (but for frequent Wi-Fi disconnections), but I don't know what's causing the issue.

Confirming dubhater's diagnosis with the specific module evidence. The panic trace lists:

Both the out-of-tree (_git suffix) and the in-tree rtw89_8851bu from kernel 6.19 are bound to the same device at the same time. That's why the URB anchor list gets corrupted in usb_unanchor_urb.

Two recovery paths, depending on which driver you'd rather keep:

Path A: keep the in-tree driver only (what dubhater suggested).

# remove the installed version (replace 7.1 with what dkms status shows)
sudo dkms remove rtw89/7.1 --all
sudo rm -rf /usr/src/rtw89-7.1
sudo rm -f /etc/modprobe.d/rtw89.conf
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
sudo reboot

Kernel 6.19 ships rtw89_8851bu in-tree, so on its own it should work for your hardware.

Path B: keep the out-of-tree driver, complete the missing modprobe blacklist step.

The repo ships rtw89.conf which blacklists every in-tree counterpart (rtw89_8851bu included). It's the step in the Installation Guide that says sudo cp -v rtw89.conf /etc/modprobe.d/, after Install the firmware. If you ran sudo dkms install $PWD and stopped there, this step doesn't execute automatically.

Either path will stop the dual-bind. Pick Path A if you don't have a specific reason to need the OOT driver on 6.19; pick Path B if you want to stay on this fork.
