Echo Show 5 Wifi Reset Causes Webpage Not Available net::ERR_FAILED Error

The Echo Show 5 has a known issue where when roaming between routers, it causes WiFi disconnects. When this happens, more times than not the page in VACA refreshes and shows a generic android page error. To resolve this issue we simply refresh the page by swiping the page from the top down.

Hi @rdfedor . This is odd as it should give you a built in error page in this situation. I do see that often when the HA javascript looses connection to the HA server (ie when wifi disconnects) it requests a reauth (no idea why that is a good idea). I'm going to look at somethign to stop that processing and wait for wifi to return

Sounds good. Thanks. Done know if this would be helpful but some context on my setup is it's a bit more elaborate than most. My router runs ha proxy as an SSL termination point and load balances connections across 3 manager nodes on a 6 node cluster. The 3 manager nodes have traefik on them, then I use traefik labels on the service containers to define how traffic is routed. All this though is hardwired and not wireless. Only the echo show devices are wireless.

Actually saw it again while restarting my HA service so it's not only on wifi disconnects and happens all my devices.

Yes, any loss of connection to HA will cause this reauth request from the HA javascript, whether wifi drop or server restart. Just why you dont get the correct error page is the odd bit. If you did, when the connection came back it would reload the dashboard automatically.

Can you tell me the version of webview you are running? You can see by looking at the details of the app version sensor.

So I installed the same app on my galaxy a7 t500 with lineage os and got a different screen which I think is the one I should be seeing.

I wonder if the webview version is too old on the echo show 5 to support the custom screen. It is based on Android 11.

Yes thats the screen i would expect. But i also expect to see that on ES5 and i do on mine. Can you get the version fro. Your ES5?

Something I just noticed is that even if it's on that error page, I can still remotely refresh it and it'll go back to HA fixing the issue but it incorrectly reports what the current view is. If it's on the clock when it goes on to the error page, it still reports to HA that the device is on the clock view.

Thats because when it goes on to the error page it has no network connection to be able to report anything to the server. Agree its not moving feom that page when connection returns because it doesnt do that unless itnis on the built in error page.

I have also been getting the generic "Webpage not available" message on my ES5. Webview version is 139.0.7258.143. VACA app version 0.11.3.
