Hotkeys bugs

Most of the pre-defined and rebindable hotkey are bugged:

Fullscreen: Various ways to toggle this, but the rebind doesn't work. Don't recall default, but Ctrl+F does toggle it regardless of what this is set to.
Reset: Ctrl+R default doesn't work , nor rebinded
Pause: Shift+P default doesnt work
Volume: No default, set it to Up/Down keyboard keys, doesnt work
FPS readout default F: Doesnt work
Toggle renderer : Default R doesnt work (guessing this would toggle from opengl to software render? Seems too tricky to implement to be worth having, probably can just drop this entirely)
Fast-forward: Tab default works. But rebinding it to Q: doesn't work (tab continues to work)

Ideally this function could also let us select the speed up amount.
and more ideally, not affect the music.. as atm it horribly breaks the music.

on topic of audio: Sample rate is not saved when changed in launcher to 48khz.

Hello! Thanks for reporting. So I'll be transparent is that those hotkeys are all pretty stale and dated compared to PSXRecomp and are a bit of a mess. I just gave it all a facelift and modernized a bit. Also, PSXRecomp has since begun to support save states and rewind, so I added those in during this facelift.

    • Rewind buffer setting
    • Rewind interval setting

  • Prevented runtime from installing default F8 rewind binding when rewind backend is not compiled in.

• Validated

  • Hotkey rebinding works for:

    • fullscreen
    • fast-forward
    • volume up/down
    • FPS readout

  • Defaults stop firing after rebinding:

    • Tab no longer fast-forwards after rebinding turbo to Q
    • Ctrl+F no longer toggles fullscreen after rebinding fullscreen

  • FPS readout now visibly appears in-game through OSD.

  • Audio sample rate 48000 persists through launcher/settings.

  • Rewind-enabled build includes PSX_HAS_RBENGINE_SNAP=1.

  • Missing rewind backend with default PSX_REWIND=ON fails configure with a clear error.

  • Explicit PSX_REWIND=OFF builds cleanly and hides rewind UI.

Tested,
Issue 1: New menu setup results in last hotkey being cutscene (resizing window temp fixes, but launcher window size is not saved / ideally should just fit to the right blank space anyways):

Keys tested:
fullscreen: works rebound , unbound key properly does nothing
volume up/down: Working as expected, volume OSD is a nice touch
fps readout: Either working or perhaps bugged as it always read 60.. But i have 240fps interpolation enabled. It does look smoother and msi afterburner fps readout seems correct (shows 240 when 240 mode is enabled, shows 360 when i have it set to refresh rate mode, so i believe the frame rate counter is broken rather than the interpolation. (not 100% certain since you cant "feel" the fps different like real fps increases, so its just interpolation, but pretty sure it looks smoother and ive seen hitches above 240fps that i can visually see as well.

minor note: initial fmv fps stays locked to 60 on afterburner, only goes to 240+ after it. (irrelevant i know since the fmv file itself is probably 15-30 fps or something quite low)

fast forward: rebind to q now works.. But it's also now bugged: It does fast forward (speeds up getting to gameplay, especially useful now i cant figure out save states anymore).. But it freezes rendering why its enabled .. Just hear the garbled audio to tell its working, and upon release, game is farther forward then normal.

new save state menu: Can't make heads or tails of it. No indication how to work it. It scrolls up and down with arrow keys, but no key i tested allowed me to actually save or load.. and the previous working Shift+f1/f2 to save / f1 without shift ot load, are now gone.
Imo the previous system should remain, its intuitive since a load of emulators use that style.
Menu could be cool too, but needs work as its unclear what it does if anything.

As a note about save states, those should be I believe F7 or F8 by default and have a visual menu. Check the keybind settings. Save states are now very ironclad. They saw a significant improvement recently alongside some netplay support in psxrecomp.

The original method for save states took a lot of utility keys away, and ultimately they were built for developer purposes. This new one aims to make them more streamlined for UX.

As for the lack of glyphs/information, let me see what I can do to improve that user experience.

Cut a new release. A forewarning, to speed up iteration, this one lacks native overlay shards, so they'll compile as they come up on first run. You may notice a few hiccups the first time entering a few areas. Will address in a final release once we've nailed these down.

Please try the save/load menus again. If they're still troublesome, I'll see about bringing back an opt-in for (shift)+f1-f12 for save/load. I'm optimistic this'll supersede them.

I've added some glyphs to the menus to make them more approachable.

I also attempted to touch up the turbo fast forward as well and tried to clarify some of the FPS speeds when turboing.

Cool. Yea i was just testing with keyboard, so if there just bound to controller, probably why i couldnt find any key to save or load. I'll test some more tommorow.

Tested new hotkeys in 1.0.9. All working as expected now.
Though they are still cutoff in the launcher menu unless its resized, but it's window dimension are not remembered.. So either need to make a 2nd column, and/or remember window size/position.:
