We could also generate maps for key species.

Time series of either of these are going to be noisy but could be done.

We can also grab MLD and other physical params from HYCOM or other models. The only one that we really need from CMEMS (Europe) is the global carbon (pH, pCO2) (see #3).

Here is a precipitation dataset I found:

This is 0.1 x 0.1 deg at a monthly time step. Units are mm/hr. I don't see that it is available in ERDDAP, but is from Earthdata Search, OPENDAP and THREDDS.
