Doesn't work on SMF 2.0.15

Not working on SMF 2.0.15 - the installer installs only on one theme, which ok, is to be expected. This sets up a chatbox that shows up however, clicking "Save" doesn't make any text show up in the box.

The docs say to chmod 666 l.txt, but I don't see that file created. Creating it inside the NChat directory did not help.

I also see a lot of errors when clicking on mute:

also clicking on Smiles doesn't do anything, I'm guessing it should show a pop-up with emoji, but it doesn't do anything.

reloading the page also does not show any text in the chat box.

tried from both the latest firefox and also chrome

Adding this line to NChatMess.php does not make it show up in the chat box, so maybe the issue is that the chat box is not able to display the text (and ofc clicking Save does not seem to add text to the file either.)

So, it's not SMF 2.0.15 that's the trouble, it's PHP7.3 - rolling back to PHP7.1 made it work. 🤦‍♂️
