[Feature Request] Friend Leaderboard

I've been searching for an app that allows me to share my goals/steps/km with friends, but haven't found one that doesn't want to tell 999 advertisers about all my data.

Would introducing a friendlist or friend leaderboard or even a group with a code be a future feature option for Stepsy? It would really encourage me to walk more if I had people to do it with.

Well.. Doing something like this costs money: server and other shit. And I get it that those dev guys are greedy af. But still, the day they implemented it, they wanted the app to cover its costs. As I'm not developing this app to ask for donations, this project is just my effort to make a simple and working step counting application. Lightweight, offline by design, and stitched my way.

While I appreciate your suggestion, being honest with you means I need to answer you without beating around the bush: this would cost me tons of time, mess with flavors (some people love this app only because it's not calling for the INTERNET permission), require me to cover some costs etc. And others putting these social features into their step counters were making money for years before pushing it forward.

I'll keep this issue open to not discourage you, but keep in mind it's not possible at the current stage of the app. If you really got your friends to use Stepsy – I'm on cloud nine. Thanks again!

I don't think you really need a full on server infrastructure for this, you could for example use a discord channel for a way to store your steps & your friends and just let the app have access to it, or use google/microsoft excel to store it for free without needing advertisement or hosting. Just throwing out some ideas.
